Medical Council of IndiaThe Medical Council of India has granted approval to the Puducherry government run Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute to admit the second batch of students for MBBS course (2011-2012 session). This was announced by Chief Minister N Rangasamy.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Rangasamy said with this 150 students would be admitted for the first year MBBS course and they would be provided free education.

He said necessary infrastructure facilities were being provided and the aim of the administration was to make the medical college a world class institution.

Steps would soon be taken to get adequate seats as government quota from the private medical colleges here.
