The Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test – 2011 (EAMCET 2011) will be held on May 22nd instead of May 5th as announced earlier. The decision to postpone the date by two weeks was taken at the EAMCET Committee meeting held here on Thursday. The by-elections to Pulivendula Assembly and Kadapa Parliamentary constituencies was cited as the reason for the postponement. The by-polls are scheduled to be held on May 8th. However, students, parents, college managements and student unions are opposing this move stating that the decision would affect lakhs of students preparing for the entrance examination for admission to the engineering and medical courses.
